Wadi Ardon and Harut Hill Hike

Feb 10, 2020 | Hikes and Trails

Type: Loop
Distance: 4km
Difficulty: Easy

This was a pretty easy but very scenic hike. It was also super cool to see all the Air Force jets flying so close overhead doing practice maneuvers (they flew directly overhead every fifteen minutes or so).

The trails start in the middle of the Ramon Crater (about a 30 minute drive from the visitors center. Park at the Saharonim Plateau (Ramat Saharonim) Parking Area (it’s off a dirt road past a Beduin tent).

We started off on the Black Trail (a dirt 4×4 trail) heading toward Harut Hill.  We then took a left on the Blue trail and followed it around Harut Hill until we hit the intersection with the Red Trail.  From there, we ascended Harut Hill via the Green Trail and then descended the way we came until we got back to the trail marker sign.

From there, we took the red trail around the rest of Harut Hill. The Red Trail reconnected with the Black Trail.  We took a left on the Black Trail and followed it along Wadi Ardon until we hit the Blue Trail. We turned right onto the Blue trail, which took us right through the middle of the desert and ultimately back to our car.
